Grant Knox is currently pursuing a master’s degree in historical musicology at the University of Arizona. In 2018, he received his bachelor’s degree in music education from Murray State University. His research looks at musical identity, focusing on hip-hop music in Chicago in addition to African-American compositional identity in the twentieth century. This has led to an interest in the music of American composer, Ulysses Kay as well as the music of Kanye West and Common.
